When U.S. President Barack Obama was just campaigning several months ago, he gave an impression that  he is anti-outsourcing although the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry is hoping for the best, that the elected president will mean better trade ties.

Though some predict an offshoring backlash in 2009, it’s still hard to dismiss the fact that companies looking to save much needed cash to continue operations would ignore the idea of outsourcing. Who wouldn’t want to save money given the global economic crisis and increasing competition?

2008 was quite a healthy year for the outsourcing industry. The industry was robust during the first half of the year, as new accounts continued flowing in and as existing accounts continued to expand. The second half was stable despite fear that the US financial crisis would hurt the industry and that the incoming US president is said to be anti-outsourcing, these fears are unwarranted.
