The Philippines has been declared as the top destination for the call center outsourcing industry after having surpassed its Indian competitors. There have been a couple of reasons provided as to why the Philippines is regarded as such. In an article published in Outsourcing Insider entitled “Philippine Contact Centers Surpass Indian Competitors”, we have discussed that what makes the Philippines a higher bargaining power is its manpower’s ability to speak and understand the English language very well. However, its Indian competitors have not been entirely neglected by business owners who are looking to delegate their customer service or voice support to a process outsourcing service provider as the Philippines’ main competitor is still approached for such type of services.

Business process outsourcing solutions providers are usually looking for the best place to host their services from, and it is in fact the reason why there are actually countries that push to become the top outsourcing destination. In fact, countries are exhausting all possible measures, including seeking assistance from each of their own governments, to become the destination that comes to companies’ minds when thinking of outsourcing parts, if not all, of their operations or administrative tasks. But one can notice that for every channel in the outsourcing industry, there is a particular country that is being scouted; for example, Philippines springs to mind when companies are looking to outsource their customer service, mainly because the Philippines is now regarded as the top destination for call center needs.

Companies have begun seeking the assistance of outsourcing companies for their company processes since the 70s. Since then it has gradually moved its way into the hearts of the companies from different industries. Come to the present day, it is possible that more than half of the total population of companies in the market today have an outsourcing partner at hand. There are quite a number of companies that can attest that engaging with an outsourcing partner can be beneficial and pleasant since they themselves are currently outsourcing, or have already outsourced, a part of their company processes.

India has been the top choice for many companies when they consider outsourcing mainly because of the benefits associated with outsourcing to India. However, it seems that this will not be the case for long as emerging destinations in the field of outsourcing, particularly in accounting outsourcing, are paving the way for companies to go beyond India into other locations.

The differences in the current outsourcing clime among different regions in the world have become as stark as black and white this past month.  Different events around the world have contributed to the current climate and while some may feel relief, some are also feeling the pressure.

When people say outsourcing, a select few countries would immediately come to mind.  But while the economy continues its recovery and business continues to thrive, more and more places are being tagged as ‘the best’ or ‘the hottest’ outsourcing destination.  Not all outsourcing destinations however were created equal, which is why many outsourcing providers have branched out in one place or another, some obviously preferring that destination, some to sample the local flavor to see if they’ll prosper there.

The business process outsourcing race among destination countries is a fierce competition that has been predominantly lead by South Asian country, India.  The Philippines however, has been holding its own against India, emerging as a power player in the BPO outsourcing space.
