It has been reported, both in the past and recently, that government agencies have been turning to outsourcing for assistance in their processes. Outsourcing companies have already established their presence and importance especially in helping out not only both privately held and public companies, but also government agencies as well. For government agencies, the solutions being tapped are quite diverse; there is the outsourcing of public services, accounting processes and IT support.

An organized accounting department within a company will surely contribute to the efficiency of the company’s administration department as they will be able to focus more on their business. Outsourcing companies, particularly in India, are in the process of expanding their verticals to accommodate the changes in the market. The financial services and IT services are two of the most common areas in which outsourcing companies are now focusing; however, there is one area that Indian companies have been slow to tap and that is healthcare outsourcing. Healthcare outsourcing, such as medical billing and medical coding, is an area that is expanding rapidly.

Expectations were high for the end of quarter results of India’s number two outsourcer, Infosys (NASDAQ:INFY). As the first of its peers to release quarterly results, the outsourcing company is responsible for setting the tone for India’s outsourcing sector. It was therefore a big disappointment when Infosys announced a 2.6% drop in profit for the period of April to June 2010.

The big three of Indian outsourcing companies have a lot to evaluate, as their lower ranking rival Cognizant (NASDAQ:CTSH), is slowly starting to emerge ahead of the pack following the company’s first quarter results. This comes with the continued albeit slow rebound of the outsourcing market this year.

With the passage of the historic, although much maligned, Obama healthcare reform bill in the US, a new opportunity has opened up for outsourcing companies as hospitals and insurance providers will now be seeking ways of minimizing expenses.
