Companies providing call center services are usually the type of companies that conducts mass hiring to attend to the growing demand for customer service and for sales outsourcing. As companies, especially those businesses who need to maintain constant customer relation, a reliable team who will be the front-liner for their business is important. The search for a contact center partner usually brings companies to outsourcing solutions providers who have facilities offshore as engaging with an offshore provider has proven to be less expensive than hosting your contact center solutions in-house.

As reported in December 2010, just before the year of 2010 comes to an end, the Asian-country Philippines has already exceeded its Indian competitors when it comes to the area of contact center outsourcing. India usually comes to mind when outsourcing is being discussed, especially because of the cheap costs the Indian outsourcing firms offer their clients. However, this is no longer the case as the Philippines is now regarded as the top destination for call center outsourcing.

Customer service may have been the most common service to be outsourced by companies because companies, especially sales companies, highly value their customers. In any part of the globe, when it comes to customer service, companies really push for an outsourcing partner that will be able to assist them in providing exemplary customer service to their consumers. However, even if customer service has been one of, if not the most, in demand outsourced service by companies, times are changing and it seems that back-office outsourcing solutions, such as data entry services, is now gaining a fair share of attention from companies already.

When one talks about outsourcing, it is India that usually comes to mind. It cannot be denied that India has the largest market for outsourcing firms. Last October 26, 2010, we published an article entitled “Philippines Continues to Live Up To Offshoring Destination Of The Year Title“, which reported that despite having been given the Offshoring Destination of the Year award, the Philippines still ranks second to India in the outsourcing space. There is indeed a remarkable gap between these two countries. But while there is a significant difference between the two, recent figures show that the Philippines is actually starting to catch up and close the lead between it and India.

While outsourcing hubs, China and India, are currently leading in the outsourcing space, other destinations such as countries in Latin America and Southeast Asian country, Philippines, have seen their fair share of growth in outsourcing business coming through these past few months.  The Philippines in particular, is seeing a number of expansions by outsourcing companies this month alone.

The downpour isn’t a torrent anymore …The world is still recovering from the effects of the global economic crisis. And while it may be years until everybody’s able to go back to pre-crisis form, most industries, including the outsourcing industry, now have a sunny outlook for the future.

A day before the release of the 4^th quarter financial results of outsourcing company Convergys Corporation (NYSE:CVG), they announced plans to lay off many of its employees, without disclosing how many and which locations would be affected.
